About

Loud George is the 3 way brainchild of Eric Hayes, Nick Baxter and Sam Smith. The band materialised in 2010 after the trio decided that they needed to break away from the middle of the road musical projects they were otherwise involved in, and create something raw, unfiltered and carefree. They headed to a live room with three chords and one line of a chorus. Within 20 minutes the first Loud George Song was born: ‘Bottle’

The songs that followed were gritty, dark and ferocious, whilst maintaining an elegant juxtaposition of melody and chaos. The lyrics reflected the life of the then 20-somethings student life, laced with a touch of apathy. The resulting self titled album was rough around the edges to say the least.

Young, dumb and full of Grunge, the boys crammed themselves and their instruments into someones girlfriends Peugeot 206 and began to inflict themselves on the Manchester Music scene. They came to venues like Gullivers, Dry Bar, Night and Day, bakers Vault with a mixture of original material and punked up covers of vintage classics like ‘These Boots are made for walking’ and ‘Hit the Road Jack’

Despite being well received by the punters of the North, the first chapter of Loud George was disappointingly short lived. Largely due to the fact that not one of them really knew what they were doing. After 2 years of gigging and recording, things faded out and all that was left was a selection of fuzzy live videos, a few on stage action shots and a gnarly selection of demo recordings.

10 years later, Loud George had kept in sparse contact but as far as all were concerned, it was a thing of the past. Then Eric decided to pull on a conversational thread that had been dormant for 3 years, and wake the sleeping George.

With Eric acting as main producer in his home studio, Loud George birthed a new life into the collection of basement grunge songs they had composed a decade earlier.

Now all graduated from Uni, and with a few years experience at the school of life, Loud George are back in business. Eric, Nick and Sam, each equipped with a personal home recording studio, are in the process of writing and recording their follow up EP “Sex Teeth”
